Spiralis is an experimental collection of knitted and laser-cut samples targeting the bespoke fashion market. The collection is inspired by Sara’s personal dramatic emotions of feeling lost, agitated, hazy, frail, indecisive and stressed.  Emotions are interpreted in a series of highly crafted samples involving technical complexity and offer fashion designers exciting possibilities in terms of silhouette, movement and impact. The collection is the result of a process-driven design approach. Choosing yarns that were more ‘chaotic’, distressed, messy and soft, she has developed a personal language with which to express her feelings texturally.  Black, grey, and white tones represent the hopeless and sombre mood of her feelings.  Digital drawings made in the moment of frustration when she aimlessly scribbled overlapping lines, create abstract statements translated through laser cutting.  Layering of knitted, printed and constructed interpretations leads to intriguing material possibilities channelling the sense of confusion and distress, into ideas full of positivity and potential.
